TEDxSouthbridge International School Cambodia Youth: Bringing People Together to Explore Identity and the Future
On 25 September 2026, Southbridge International School Cambodia (SISC) welcomed a full turnout of 100 attendees to TEDxSouthbridge International School Cambodia Youth, an independently organised TEDx event held under the theme “My Identity, My Future.” Organised by volunteers from the SISC community, the event brought together students, educators and community members for a day of thought-provoking talks, personal stories and meaningful conversations.
TEDx is a programme of local, independently organised events that bring people together for a TED-like experience through live speakers and TED Talk videos. Although TED provides general guidance for the programme, each TEDx event is independently organised following the TEDx guidelines and rules.
The theme for this event explored the journey of understanding who we are, what shapes us and the possibilities we create through our choices. Celebrating the cultures, passions and values that make each individual unique, the event encouraged young people to embrace their individuality while recognising that identity is never truly fixed.
Exploring Identity, Growth and Possibility
The programme featured nine speakers from education, entrepreneurship, creative industries, leadership and the wider community, each offering a distinct perspective on the relationship between identity and personal growth. Highlights included:
Molica Moi challenged the limitations of repeatedly saying “I don’t know,” encouraging curiosity and self-discovery.
Halyn Yan Yue Chai reflected on navigating cultural identity and belonging while living as a foreigner in Cambodia.
Makanaka Shamah Riside explored how young people can pursue different interests and career possibilities without allowing a single path to define them.
Leangchinh Dom examined how relationships, challenges and mutual support shape personal growth beyond awards and achievements.
Jennifer Manichoutey Heng challenged the pressure to define oneself too early, advocating for an identity that leaves room for change.
Mariam Conde Zamora explored how meaningful feedback can empower students to take ownership of their learning and future progress.
Shunsuke “Take” Miyatake reflected on the unexpected detours that shape our lives and the value of remaining open to new experiences.
Davin Prasath shared perspectives on authenticity, resilience and challenging stereotypes.
Tifanny Bophadavy Doche explored how creativity, cultural influences and new experiences continuously shape our sense of identity.

Ideas That Inspire a Future of Possibilities
Through these diverse perspectives, TEDxSouthbridge International School Cambodia Youth created a space for reflection, dialogue and connection. The full turnout of 100 attendees underscored the value of bringing people together to explore questions that resonate across generations: who we are, who we aspire to become and how we can shape our own futures.
The event highlighted the contribution and support from the SISC volunteers in organising an independently run TEDx experience for the SISC community.

About TEDx, x = independently organised event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED
