SISC recently hosted Assistant Principal Ms. Sarah and Learning Specialist Ms. Erin from Clyde Creek Primary School, Australia, marking a significant milestone in the ASEAN-Australia BRIDGE School Partnership Programme. The week-long cultural and educational exchange aimed to strengthen ties between the two schools while promoting global citizenship and collaborative learning.

The visit blended deep cultural immersion with intensive professional collaboration, giving the visiting Australian educators a firsthand look at Cambodia’s rich heritage and SISC’s dynamic learning environment.

Bridging Cultures and Classrooms

During their visit, they explored Cambodia’s history and culture through visits to many cultural sites around Phnom Penh. They also experienced Cambodian hospitality and learned about local traditions and community life. Transitioning from cultural exploration to academic exchange, the educators engaged deeply with the SISC community. Key highlights of the school exchange included:

• Strategic Leadership Meetings: Collaborative sessions with the SISC Senior Leadership Team to discuss institutional growth and future joint projects.
• Classroom Observations: Immersive visits across Early Years, Primary, and Secondary divisions to observe teaching methodologies.
• Professional Knowledge Sharing: Interactive sessions between Australian and Cambodian educators to exchange best practices in curriculum delivery and student engagement.
• Community Engagement: Direct interactions with students, staff and parents, including attendance as special guests at the SISC Early Years Celebration Event.

A Shared Vision for International Education

The exchange highlights a mutual commitment to building a strong relationship across borders, developing intercultural understanding, and enriching the curriculum for students in both nations, as stated by Ms. Louisa Condorelli, Head of School for SISC.

The ASEAN-Australia BRIDGE Programme is an initiative of the ASEAN-Australia Centre, implemented by Asialink Education at the University of Melbourne.

The ASEAN-Australia BRIDGE Programme 2024-2026 facilitates people-to-people connections between educators and students across Australia and ASEAN Member States.

56 schools were selected to participate in the first and second cohort of the programme so far, establishing 28 new partnerships between schools across Australia and Southeast Asia.
