Summary
Main Accountabilities: At SISC, it is the role of a teacher to teach a class of up to 20 students depending on the grade level. Students in Early Years, Nursery to K2 will be taught based on IEYC and Jolly Phonics, while the K3 (Y1) students will be taught based on the Cambridge Primary Curriculum Framework. A teacher must: Have a solid understanding of both the IEYC and Cambridge International curriculum standards and have experience closing the achievement gap. Develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Incorporate technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm Believe in collaboration with other colleagues and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment
Responsibilities

 

  • Design and implement a creative and engaging Chinese language curriculum that aligns with the IEYC and Cambridge standards.
  • Foster a love for the Chinese language and culture through interactive storytelling, songs, games, and hands-on activities.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through observation, informal assessments, and formal evaluations.
  • Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding their child’s progress in learning Chinese.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
  • Implement positive behavior management strategies to promote a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to integrate Chinese language learning across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development workshops, and school events to foster a cohesive educational community.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s learning journey and provide resources for continued language development at home.
  • Organize cultural events and activities to involve parents and the wider community in celebrating Chinese culture.
  • Stay current with best practices in early childhood education and language acquisition.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of the Chinese language.

Personal Specific Essential Qualities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Chinese Language Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or license in early childhood education is preferred.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese; proficiency in English is also required.
  • Experience teaching young children in an international school setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the IEYC and Cambridge curriculum frameworks is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
